Remembering Lindsey

Last Wednesday I received the news that one of my former dance girls had been in a car accident in the early morning hours. Unfortunatly Lindsey Lear never regained concioussness. Her family had to make the difficult decision to take her off life support Thursday afternoon.

Lindsey was only 21 years old. In all the time I knew her I never saw her without a smile on her face and she never had a bad attitude. Even when we were in the crunch time of competition season, Lindsey still gave her 110%. I'll never forget at a competition one time she had a costume malfunction and exposed herself. Where most 13 year olds would have been mortified, Lindsey just laughed it off.

When she entered a room, you knew she was there. She always had a big hug for you, it didn't matter who you were. Lindsey touched so many lives and it was apparent at her viewing and her funeral, the church was standing room only and there was a 2 hours wait for people to say their final goodbyes. I have to wonder if this young girl knew how loved she was. I feel sure Lindsey was smiling down upon us. I will never understand why God called Lindsey home, but I feel better knowing she is up there watching over me.

Yes I'm still here!!

Hello Candiland readers!! I was informed the other night that I hadn't updated in a while and thought it was about time! Here's what I've been up to....

Wedding planning has just about taken over my life! When it's not wedding stuff it's dance stuff!! With the wedding we are really getting down to crunch time. I hit the 100 day mark tomorrow and still have so much to do!!

We had our first competition Valentine's Day weekend and did wonderful. My petite jazz group has come a long way this year and finished the first competition with a 2nd overall in the 8 and under small group division. All of our other dances did great too, but this group are my babies!! I've had most of them since they started before company when they were 2 and this is the first year I've had them all alone, I have co-taught with Ms. Sandi in the past! We received several platinum and first overalls including our Petite and Jr. Hip-hop crew that I assist with!! We go to Houston next weekend and I'm really nervous that we'll be able to do as well.

Where did January Go?

Happy February 1st!! I can't believe we are already a month into 2010. If this past month is any indication of the rest of the year, I'm going to be one busy girl!!

Since my last post I celebrated another friend wedding. One of my oldest friends, Angela Riggs, became Angela Bennett on January 16. The ceremony was a little chilly since it was outside, but it was beautiful! It was everything Angela wanted!

Now my wedding plan are into full swing. I got all the big details out of the way before Christmas, so now it' all the small things. On top of doing this dance competition season starts in about 2 weeks. I have been busy day and night rhinestoning costumes, making bows and working on props. It sure is making time fly by!! Before I know it July will be here.

Hope everyone has a good week and if I don't make it to blog again this month, have a happy February!!

My Best Friends Wedding

On January 2 my best friend Christina Parker became Christina Rosen! After a two year engagement, numerous date changes, and a bridesmaid dress disaster the actual wedding went off without a hitch and was beautiful. I was so honored to be her Maid of Honor, but I did tell her that she has payback coming back in July!!

Another Year Come and Gone

I can't believe it's 2010, where has the time gone? Do you remember all the hype surrounding the change from 1999 to 2000? People thought we were going to have mass riots, the world was going to end and all technology was going to crash. I had just turned 16 so what did me and my friends do, throw a big party!!

Needless to say there wasn't as much hype surrounding 2010, nor did I have a party. I spent a nice quiet evening at home. John has to work until 2 AM, so it was just me, my parents and Vegas. While it wasn't as much fun and bringing in the last decade, I didn't hate it either.

2009 wasn't a bad year, but I can't say a whole lot happened. Well except for getting engaged. 2010 is already starting out to be such a busy year. If the first few weeks are any indication of the upcoming year, then I will be one busy women!!

Happy New Year everyone!! Hope 2010 is great.

The Last One

Six years ago today I went on a date with a guy that I knew would someday be my husband. John and I had an instant connection on our first date, I got butterflies in my stomach waiting for him to come pick me up. It was nothing special, we went to Macaroni Grill in Grapevine. Somehow everything seemed to fall into place. I knew by the second date that I was falling for him and could see myself spending my life with him,

Here we are now 6 years later. Finally we are getting married. Tonight was our last anniversary of dating that we will celebrate because July 10, 2011 with mark a new anniversary, the 1st anniversary of our marriage!!
